The uninominal vote : benefits & inconveniences – short presentation

On the election day, the electors will recieve a voting paper which will have the candidate names on it and in order to express our vote we will put our seal on the candidate’s name. It’s all about candidates, not parties.

This type of election has some advantages : a simple way to vote, easy to understand, is attractive for people who does not agree parties and the politics of parties, the citizens could choose who they want to represent their interests in their relation with the state, without voting an entire list of politicians.

On the other hand there are some disadvantages : encourage “strategical voting ” techniques, for example the electors are voting for the candidate who they believe is having the most important chance to win the election, in order to not waste their vote for someone who’s not having real chances to win. The vote that’s been given to a candidate that didn’t won it will be recovered because another candidate from the same party will benefit of the vote because a compensation it will take place in the zone.
